The Brian D. Jellison Living Learning Center (JLLC) , formerlythe Kelley Living Learning Center, serves as the only LLC forKelley School of Business tracks 1st-year students at IU. Ourcenter was named after a generous gift from the family of IU alumnus Brian D. Jellisonon February 29th, 2020. The JLLC is part of the Student Communitiesdivision in the academic unit of the Kelley Undergraduate Program.Kelley is proud to be ranked in the top 8 of all undergraduatebusiness programs by US News and WorldReport.

Job Summary

This position is an important client-facing role for the JLLC. Tofulfill business needs, other duties may be assigned.

Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Responsible for areas of support such as: ordering catering,managing department email and phone calls, website updates,ordering office supplies, trip facilitation, travel arrangements,and coordinating with corporate partners, program assignment, eventplanning/management, as well as providing financial operationssupport.
  • Provides logistical, administrative, and program support forthe 500 plus community members for the residential JLLC at McNuttResidence Hall.
  • Supports 5 full-time and 15 plus part-time hourly and GraduateAssistant team members.
  • Manages events with corporate partners and Kelley faculty,supports BUS-X180 instructors, greets current and prospective students and their families, and serves as the first line ofwelcome to the JLLC.
  • Provides a safe space for staff to work and students tothrive.
  • Assists with administrative needs related to the dailyoperations, planning, and implementation of student lifeinitiatives. Performs duties such as attending a front desk,answering phones and email, and delivering messages and mail.
  • Serves as a liaison to campus partners for cross-departmentalstudent life initiatives, providing information, securing spacereservations, scheduling planning meetings, and providing necessarydocumentation.
  • Provides assistance to student participants, stakeholders,faculty, and/or staff; acts as a resource by analyzing information,providing documentation, and preparing reports.
  • Provides directions, support, and information to studentorganization representatives and other visitors to thedepartment.
  • Assists with daily scheduling, training, and gathering ofstudent feedback. May prepare and disseminate handouts,presentations, or other materials.
  • May assist with ordering or creation of promotional materialsfor student organizations.
  • May provide guidance to other Student Life Coordinators.
General Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements programs and initiatives geared atimproving student engagement and involvement outcomes at theprogram, department/division, or campus level.
  • Interfaces directly with students, attending student lifeevents and programs and gathering satisfaction feedback fromstudent participants to implement into future student lifeinitiatives and objectives.
  • Collaborates with staff in own department and otherdepartments, as well as student organization leaders, on sharedstudent life goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor studentlife initiatives.
  • Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student lifeinitiatives against projected outcomes; prepares reports and maypresent to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding forinitiatives moving forward.
  • Provides guidance to student organizations regardingoperations, budget, leadership, activities, recruitment,registration, policies, and compliance. Promotes leadership andstudent development through advising of individual student leadersand volunteers. Contributes to formation, interpretation, andimplementation of student organization policies.

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in public affairs, public health, counseling,social work, education, business, or related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred
  • 2 years in office environment, higher education, or relatedfield.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and tooperate a computer and other standard office productivityequipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periodsof time moving around an office environment and the campus. Theperson in this role must be able to perform the essential functionswith or without an accommodation.

Some lunch hours, evenings, and a rare occasional weekend willrequire support.

This position will engage in moderate physical requirements,including moving boxes of supplies for programs, 25-50 pound boxesfor orientation, facilitating food service, and setting furniturefor special events.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Student Services /Student Life / Core.

Hours of work will closely mirror the academic cycle with keyconsideration for important programs and events such as JLLCAccelerate, Direct Admit weekends, and communityselection/assignment timeframes.

Work Location

This is an in-person position.
