Responsibilities

  • Plan and construct layout of tools and dies from Engineering, Tool Design, and/or Methods documents.
  • Review Methods documents to ensure producibility and provide labor-hour estimates for construction.
  • Determine and order raw materials to build tools or dies.
  • Assemble tools and dies using precision measurement equipment to ensure compliance with specs.
  • Troubleshoot with Engineering/Tool Design/Production to resolve construction issues.
  • Typically 7 years of machining, sheet metal, fabrication experience, including 5 years in tool and die construction.
  • Read and interpret Engineering, Methods, and Tool Design documents.
  • Use a variety of precision measurement instruments.
  • Set up and operate mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, routers, power tools, heat-treat ovens.
  • These roles require initiative and adherence to safety requirements.
  • Interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams and departments.
  • Basic knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, and algebra.
  • Working knowledge of tool and die construction and related machinery and equipment.

  • Plan and construct layout of tools and dies from Engineering, Tool Design, and/or Methods documents

  • Review Methods documents to ensure producibility of tool or die and provide estimates of labor hours for construction as required

  • Determine and order the raw materials required to build tool or die
