Job summary

JAX Jackson General Hospital in West Virginia is seeking an RN to manage individualized, goal-directed nursing care using the nursing process in accordance with hospital policies.

Uphold patient safety, participate in quality improvement, supervise nursing assistants, and collaborate with the health care team to deliver high‑quality care across units. Required licenses and certifications ensure readiness for Med/Surg, OR, and ED responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program.
• Current WV nursing license.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS required within 30 days for Med/Surg, OR, and ED.
• PALS required within 30 days for OR and ED.

Responsibilities

• Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care.
• Develops and communicates a realistic plan of care with patient/family/significant other to address identified needs.
• Implements medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the patient.
• Evaluates problems, care provided, and patient responses to ensure quality.
• Maintains up‑to‑date documentation of nursing care for the healthcare team.
• Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure.
• Functions as a role model for current and new staff.
• Performs unit-specific duties to address the needs of the client.

Manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Knows and applies current nursing theory, principles of care, and nursing policies and procedures in performing the following functions appropriate to the age of the patient: maintains a safe and clean care environment; engages in quality improvement; supervises nursing assistants; actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications; behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and objectives of Jackson General Hospital; and performs other duties as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Graduate of a school of nursing.
2. Current WV nursing license
3. BLS certification within 30 days from hire date
4. ACLS required 30 days from hire date for Med/Surg, OR, and ED
5. PALS required 30 days from hire date for OR and ED

1. One (1) year direct patient care experience as an RN

5. Maintains up‑to‑date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, in order to ensure quality care
6. Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure
7. Functions as a role model for current and new staff
8. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed.
