Job summary

JAX Jackson General Hospital in Ripley, West Virginia is seeking a Patient Care Tech-Certified to support registered nurses in the Emergency Department. You will perform direct and indirect patient care, help with admissions, transfers, discharges, and daily comfort tasks, while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

The role requires a High School diploma, BLS certification within 30 days, and WV CNA certification or hospital-based program completion.

• BLS certification within 30 days of hire date.
• WV Certified Nursing Assistant certification or hospital-based cert preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assists the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records vital signs and assists with personal hygiene and comfort measures.
• Records intake and outputs and monitors temperature, blood pressure and other vitals.
• Assists in specimen collection and related activities.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment to prevent infections and protect patients, visitors and staff.
• Reports equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicates nutrition issues to the RN.
• Assists department with administrative tasks and answers call bells.
