Job summary

West Virginia University Health System seeks an experienced Advanced Practice Nurse to provide clinical management for assigned shifts and patient populations under physician supervision. You will perform exams, diagnose, prescribe, order and interpret tests, and coordinate care across services.

Requirements include WV RN and ANP licenses, a Master’s in Nursing (Emergency or Family Practice), and ACLS/PALS/BLS (ATLS if ED). Expect a rigorous role with patient-centered care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse licensed in WV and licensed as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in WV.
• Master's Degree in Nursing (Emergency or Family Practice) required.

Responsibilities

• Renders health care services to patients within scope of practice as an advanced practice nurse.
• Receives patients, takes histories, performs exams, develops diagnoses and treatment plans, prescribes medications, and interprets tests.
• Obtains and prepares specimens for laboratory testing.
• Performs or assists in laboratory testing procedures.
• Gives injections and immunizations.
• Sutures, performs biopsies and electrocautery as trained.
• Provides patient counseling.
• Discusses additional health care resources with patients and families.
• Arranges or assists with arrangements for advanced diagnostic or treatment needs.
• Provides emergency care within education and experience range.
• Distributes medications, including prescribing within scope.
• Maintains general health information and patient confidentiality.
• Complete Annual Employee Education.

Job description

This position will have clinical responsibilities for assigned shifts and assigned patient populations based on credentialing. Provide direct medical management for patients within their scope of practice with the collaborating physician or designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. 1. Registered Nurse licensed in the State of WV and licensed as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the State of WV
2. 2. Master’s Degree in Nursing specializing in Emergency or Family Practice
3. 3. Current ACLS, PALS, BLS, and ATLS certification required *ATLS required only if working in Emergency Department
