Reporting to the Manager, Software Engineering the Software Engineer III is responsible for developing and maintaining our Payment Accuracy applications and services. You will be focused on continuing to build on the core set of solutions as well as assisting in the migration efforts of new and existing software solutions to the cloud. You will work closely with product owners and the software engineering Tech Lead to help execute on the team’s engineering efforts. We anticipate this role being ~80% hands on development with ~20% mentoring of junior developers.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within the healthcare industry and experience delivering AWS solutions to the cloud. We are looking for a hands-on engineer that is comfortable working in the guts of the code and mentoring and guiding upcoming engineers. You’ll be empowered and encouraged to bring forth new ideas that further empower the system’s analytical capabilities while showcasing your passion for designing and developing complex backend systems that are able to evolve over time.

Role qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years’ experience as a full-time Software Engineer
  • 5+ years' experience with Java
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering with a focus on full-stack development
  • Experience in OO Design principles
  • Experience with Postgres, to include query language
  • Experience with git/gitlab or similar source code management tools
  • Self-driven leader with the drive to constantly evolve and improve current processes and practices
  • Proven experience working with little to no assistance
  • Able to guide cross-functional groups with a focus in software, data and business-intelligence engineering
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities for technical and business audiences
  • Strong initiative to fix issues before assigned to them; willing to take on complex projects in unfamiliar areas as an individual that tend to be feature focused

To differentiate yourself, you:

  • 5+ years' experience with C# .Net
  • Experience with healthcare information technology
  • Experience in React and Material UI
  • Experience in AWS/Cloud development
  • Significant experience with agile/scrum development process with a desire to work closely with scrum masters to continually improve processes
  • Experience with Gradle

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the Payment Accuracy engineers and serve as an expert in the delivery of complex software solutions through design, development, deployment and maintenance
  • Formulate architectural strategy for the solution that will support clinical document evaluation dashboards in the first phase, but can then be built upon and evolve to deliver on future dashboard needs
  • Collaborate with product owners and other technology leaders to define industry-leading healthcare processes
  • Coordinate software engineering efforts across the Payment Accuracy teams by providing leadership and guidance in the delivery of cross-team data pipelines
  • Establish expertise in Payment Accuracy processes; understand the overall architecture of the entire system and clearly define the role of the User and Organization systems in the overall Payment Accuracy system
  • Determine functional and non-functional requirements for evolving the team’s Payment Accuracy products and services
  • Design, implement and maintain an industry-leading clinical data evaluation solution for C-CDA, HL7v2 and FHIR data
  • Lead the full-stack development efforts from the data layer to the underlying backend processes.
  • Work with product and user experience professionals to lead the design and development of well-designed user interfaces
  • Responsible for facilitating discussions, clearly communicate and document software solutions and designs for technical and business audiences
  • Able to identify open-ended problems and consistently identify solutions, weigh in on technical decisions impacting the team
  • Work independently and provide technical guidance on software engineering needs in the organization and keep up-to-date on the latest software engineering technology directions
  • Become a recognized expert in applying tools and processes to solve complex and unusual challenges; participate in developing new strategies to increase engineer productivity and reduce the time-to-deliver for complex software solutions
