Job summary

Bank of America in Jersey City is seeking an experienced Java software engineer for the Equities Cash Technology team. You will develop and deliver complex requirements to support low-latency electronic trading, ensuring code meets functional, non-functional and compliance standards.

You will work across CI/CD, test automation, and cloud/container deployments, collaborate with global teams, and contribute to front-office systems design while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• In-depth core Java API knowledge; multithreaded systems; low-latency I/O experience.
• AI First approach.
• Enthusiastic engineer able to work in a multi-faceted role.
• Automation-first mindset across the software development lifecycle, including shift-left testing.
• Experience in an electronic trading environment in banking or equivalent.
• Practical knowledge of TDD, UML, OO design; strong IDE experience.
• Knowledge of FIX protocol; sockets and network connections.
• Experience with front-office system design and architecture.
• Team player; mentoring junior members; able to take technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Codes solutions and unit tests to meet acceptance criteria and compliance.
• Uses multiple architectural components in design and development of client requirements.
• Performs CI/CD activities and contributes to build pipelines.
• Participates in story refinement and requirement definition.
• Estimates work needed to deliver stories within the lifecycle.
• Contributes to test suites; analyzes results; triages issues.
