Job summary

The Lockwood Group is seeking a Java Software Engineer to support the development, integration, and sustainment of software within C5ISR hardware and software systems at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. You will contribute across the system lifecycle, from design support to implementation and testing, in a DoD contracting environment.

Ideal candidates bring a BS in a technical field, 10+ years of experience, and an active DoD Secret clearance, with a track record in structured engineering processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
• Active DoD Secret clearance; experience in major weapon systems product development and acquisition.
• Experience delivering software in structured DoD engineering environments.

Project Overview – PTSS C5ISR Hardware & Software Program

The Lockwood Group supports a C5ISR hardware and software program for a U.S. Army customer located at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD. This effort provides engineering, integration, and lifecycle support for mission‑critical command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C5ISR) systems. The program supports the development, modernization, and sustainment of tactical network and mission systems to ensure operational effectiveness and technological advantage.

Position Overview

The Java Software Engineer will support the development, integration, and sustainment of software components within C5ISR hardware and software systems. This position contributes to engineering activities across the system lifecycle, including design support, implementation, testing, and technical documentation. The role requires experience supporting DoD weapon systems development environments and the ability to operate within structured acquisition and engineering processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Support software engineering activities across system design, development, and integration efforts.

• Experience supporting software development within structured engineering environments.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Active DoD Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting C5ISR or tactical network systems.
• Familiarity with Army acquisition lifecycle processes.
• Experience supporting integration or test events.
• Experience supporting programs at Aberdeen Proving Ground.
