Job summary

NYS Office of Information Technology Services in Albany seeks a versatile Information Technology Specialist performing SDLC duties across development and maintenance tasks. The role requires rapid adaptation to legislative changes and strong coding, testing and design skills in Java/J2EE and related languages.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, writing specifications, collaborating across teams, and supporting end-users while leveraging AIX DB2, .NET, and XML technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 15 CS credit hours or higher in computer science, or equivalent experience.
• One year of information technology experience or two years of IT experience if degree is outside CS.
• Open to NYS employees with related progressive classifications per gate rules.

Responsibilities

• Coding, testing and maintenance of Java/J2EE applications per specifications.
• Create detailed design specifications for system implementations and integrations.
• Use SQL/DB tools and databases (AIX DB2) to troubleshoot and modify components.
• Identify business requirements to automate applications meeting priorities.
• Collaborate in team environments and with other teams as needed.
• Provide end-user support and troubleshoot data issues; assist in meetings with customers.
