We're now looking for a dedicated Java developer to join our Business Systems team. The role involves taking ownership of key systems and projects, improving code quality, and helping modernize legacy platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain application code, both server-side and client-side, used on the Company's internal and external web applications.
• Design, code, and modify the Hal Leonard websites as needed.
• Assist with occasional tier-2 technical support within the Company.

Required Experience:

• 5 years of experience working with Java.
• 2 years of experience working in AWS or similar cloud service.
• SQL and relational database concepts.
• Working knowledge of Java Servlets, Java Server Pages, and/or a Java MVC framework such as Struts or Spring Boot.
• Excellent understanding of object-oriented concepts.
• Knowledge of microservice architecture and RESTful API development.
• XML/JSON processing.
• Git-based source control.
• Continuous integration workflow (CI/CD).
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science (or related field).
• Ability to work in the Central Time Zone.
• Ability to learn from and mentor colleagues.
• Take the lead on project design and solutions.
• Research and investigate new technologies.

Must-have soft skills:

• Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Work effectively as part of a team or independently.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Perl is a plus.
