Everforth Apex seeks a Java Data Engineer to design and build scalable data pipelines in a GCP environment. You will work as part of a Senior Software/Data Engineer team implementing Java 8+, Spring Boot, SQL, and cloud-native data solutions.

In this hybrid Charlotte, NC role you will develop real-time data processing, utilize Kafka or Pub/Sub, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines with Gradle, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions. Strong collaboration with stakeholders is required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software or data engineering experience.
• Experience designing scalable data pipelines on cloud platforms.
• Hands-on Java development in production environments.
• Experience with GCP data services is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, secure data pipelines from on-prem to GCP.
• Develop cloud-based data solutions using BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub.
• Create data transformations with Python and Apache Beam, including SCD and masking.
• Develop Java 8+ applications with Spring Boot and RESTful APIs.
• Support real-time processing with Kafka or Pub/Sub and CI/CD pipelines with Gradle/Jenkins.
• Document solutions and present outcomes to stakeholders.
• Assist with deployments, upgrades, and ongoing platform improvements.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer / Data Engineer to design and develop scalable, secure applications and data pipelines within a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment. This role requires hands‑on experience with Java, Python, GCP data services, and modern DevOps practices, with a focus on building high‑performance applications and cloud‑based data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, secure data pipelines from on‑premises systems to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Build cloud‑based solutions leveraging BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Composer.
• Develop reusable data transformation libraries using Python and Apache Beam, including SCD patterns, data quality controls, and masking/tokenization.
• Design, develop, test, debug, deploy, and maintain high‑performance Java‑based applications.
• Develop solutions using Java 8+, Spring/Spring Boot, SQL, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture.
• Support real‑time and event‑driven data processing using Kafka and/or Google Pub/Sub.
• Build and maintain automated CI/CD processes using Gradle, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Git.
• Produce technical documentation and demonstrate developed solutions to technical stakeholders.
• Participate in application upgrades, deployments, troubleshooting, and ongoing platform enhancements.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, or education.

Technical Skills

• Strong hands‑on development experience with Java 8+, Spring/Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and SQL.
• Experience designing and building scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform.
• Hands‑on experience with GCP technologies such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, and/or Cloud Composer.
• Experience developing data transformations with Python and Apache Beam.
• Strong understanding of microservices, multithreading, and distributed application architecture.
• Experience with Kafka or Google Pub/Sub for real‑time data processing.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools, including Gradle, Jenkins, Git, and GitHub Actions.
• Ability to develop well‑tested, maintainable, and thoroughly documented production code.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python.
• Experience with Kafka or other messaging systems.
