Job summary

FNBO is seeking a Mid-Level Java Developer to join the ODS development team in Omaha. You will design, develop, and maintain backend services on a microservice-based platform deployed on AWS, using Java and Spring Framework.

The role emphasizes RESTful APIs, relational databases, and evolving cloud deployment skills. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of Java experience, strong OO design, and Agile/Scrum experience, with on-call production support and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3-5 years of professional experience developing applications in Java.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Framework (version 3 or 4).
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Experience working with relational databases (SQL, schema design, query writing).
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git).
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and the Spring Framework.
• Collaborate with Product Owner and QA to deliver high-quality features.
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code following team standards and best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retros).
• Troubleshoot and resolve defects and production issues (on call support is required).
• Contribute to technical documentation.
• Work with relational databases to design and optimize queries and schemas.
• Support the evolution of services within a microservice architecture, with opportunities to grow AWS and cloud deployment skills.
