Job summary

FNBO is seeking a Mid-Level Java Developer to join the ODS development team in Omaha. You will design, develop, and maintain backend services on a microservice-based platform deployed on AWS, using Java and Spring Framework.

The role emphasizes RESTful APIs, relational databases, and evolving cloud deployment skills. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of Java experience, strong OO design, and Agile/Scrum experience, with on-call production support and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3-5 years of professional experience developing applications in Java.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Framework (version 3 or 4).
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Experience working with relational databases (SQL, schema design, query writing).
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git).
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

Summary of the Job

The Ideal Candidate for This Role

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Experience with PostgreSQL specifically
• Experience with microservices architecture and design patterns
• Experience deploying or working with applications on AWS (e.g., EC2, ECS, Lambda, RDS)
• Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Exposure to newer Spring Boot / Spring 5+ concepts

Compensation

Compensation range (base pay): $79,363.00-$130,949.00 This role may have a specific starting pay within this range.

Final compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.
