Job summary

FNBO is seeking a Mid-Level Java Developer to join the ODS development team. You will design, develop, and maintain backend services in a microservice-based AWS environment, using Java and Spring Framework.

You will collaborate with Product Owner and QA to deliver high-quality features and support on-call production issues. The role emphasizes clean, maintainable code, design discussions, and Agile ceremonies, with opportunities to grow AWS and cloud deployment skills in a distributed system

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–5 years of professional Java development experience.
  • Hands-on Spring Framework experience and RESTful API work.
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL.
  • Familiarity with version control and Agile/Scrum processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and Spring.
  • Collaborate with Product Owner and QA to deliver features.
  • Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot defects and production issues; on-call support as needed.
  • Contribute to documentation and support AWS/cloud deployment efforts.

The ideal candidate has solid hands-on Java and Spring Framework experience and is eager to grow their skills in cloud-native, distributed systems development.About This Role:Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and the Spring FrameworkCollaborate Product Owner and QA to deliver high-quality featuresWrite clean, well-tested, maintainable code following team standards and best practicesParticipate in code reviews, design discussions, and Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retros)Troubleshoot and resolve defects and production issues (on call support is required for this role)Contribute to technical documentationWork with relational databases to design and optimize queries and schemasSupport the evolution of services within a microservice architecture, with opportunities to grow AWS and cloud deployment skillsThe Ideal Candidate for This Role:Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering , or related field, or equivalent practical experience3–5 years of professional experience developing applications in JavaHands-on experience with Spring Framework (version 3 or 4)Solid understanding of object-oriented design principlesExperience building and consuming RESTful APIsExperience working with relational databases (SQL, schema design, query writing)Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environmentStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaborativelyPreferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)Experience with PostgreSQL specificallyExperience with microservices architecture and design patternsExperience deploying or working with applications on AWS (e.g., EC2, ECS, Lambda, RDS)Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)Experience with CI/CD pipelinesExposure to newer Spring Boot / Spring 5+ conceptsCompensation:Compensation range (base pay): $79,363.00-$130,949.00This role may have a specific starting pay within this range.Final compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.Work Environment:Benefits Overview:We offer a variety of benefits designed to keep you and your family physically and financially healthy.
