Job summary

FNBO is seeking a Mid-Level Java Developer to join our ODS development team. This role contributes to the design, development, and maintenance of backend services within a microservice-based platform deployed on AWS.

The ideal candidate has solid hands-on Java and Spring Framework experience and is eager to grow cloud-native, distributed systems skills. The role emphasizes collaboration with Product Owners, QA, and Agile ceremonies, on-call support, and opportunities to grow AWS and cloud

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering , or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 3–5 years of professional experience developing applications in Java
• Hands-on experience with Spring Framework (version 3 or 4)
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
• Experience working with relational databases (SQL, schema design, query writing)
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and the Spring Framework
• Collaborate Product Owner and QA to deliver high-quality features
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code following team standards and best practices
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retros)
• Troubleshoot and resolve defects and production issues (on call support is required for this role)
• Contribute to technical documentation
• Work with relational databases to design and optimize queries and schemas
• Support the evolution of services within a microservice architecture, with opportunities to grow AWS and cloud deployment skills
