Job summary

WEX, Inc. is looking for a Software Development Engineer 2 (Java 17+) to modernize the Digital Credit Application and build a high‑performance backend. You will replace Salesforce-heavy workflows with scalable microservices and ensure fast, reliable customer experiences.

The role emphasizes migrating Salesforce logic to cloud-native services, crafting clean REST APIs, and enabling AI-ready features with a focus on data integrity and scalable design.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of backend software development experience in Fintech or e-commerce environments.
• Deep hands-on Java and Spring ecosystem expertise (Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security).
• Proven ability to design and scale RESTful services; GraphQL or gRPC is a plus.
• Experience with AWS (Lambda, EC2, RDS) and SQL (PostgreSQL) / NoSQL databases.
• Experience with asynchronous messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Git, Maven/Gradle; test-first mindset.
• Strong debugging, refactoring, and collaboration skills; self-learning mindset.

Responsibilities

• Feature Development: Build scalable microservices with Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Migration Support: Move Salesforce logic into cloud-native services with minimal disruption.
• API Craftsmanship: Create clean REST APIs for multi-channel frontends and A/B tests.
• Pluggable Logic: Implement modular adjudication components for third-party integrations.
• Data Integrity: Synchronize data between PostgreSQL databases and Salesforce using event patterns.
• Quality & Testing: Write tests (JUnit/Mockito) and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
