Job summary

Quest Global is seeking a Java back end Engineer to design, develop, and maintain robust back end services in Austin, TX. The role focuses on delivering scalable Java applications using Spring/Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and modern DevOps practices, with strong collaboration across PMs, designers, and other developers.

Ideal candidates have 8–12 years of backend experience, proficiency in containerization and cloud tools (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS), and excellent problem solving and communication

Qualifications

• Experience designing and developing back end applications.
• Strong knowledge of Java/Spring frameworks.
• Experience consuming REST APIs and handling HTTP responses.
• Familiarity with containerization and DevOps practices.

What You Will Do

• Estimate, plan, and implement Java back end applications
• Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements to build new modules or improve existing modules.
• Evaluate, maintain and improve existing code base to ensure that it is properly structured and utilize software engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot, identify, and research reported issues, and have the ability to provide recommendations by comparing advantages and disadvantages of various solutions.
• Stay on top of new technologies and tools, and adopt relevant ones to the team.
• Participate in peer reviews, learn and apply software engineering best practices to your work.
• Accountable for meeting assigned project objectives and timelines.
• Set engineering vision and direction for existing and future applications.

What You Will Bring

• 8 - 12 Years of experience in designing and developing back end applications
• Experience with designing and developing web applications with an emphasis on frontend
• Strong experience with back end technologies and frameworks - Java, Spring, Spring Boot
• Proficient with consuming REST APIs and handling all HTTP responses
• Experience with backend web services frameworks
• Some experience with relational databases - SQL
• Strong experience with Git, Bug tracking, and collaborating with a software team
• Basic understanding of Containerization and DevOps processes (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, CI/CD)
• Strong debugging and diagnostic skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills
• Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking skills
• Self-directed, analytical, and collaborative with a constant desire to learn, improve, and make things better
• Experience working with a cross-disciplinary team of PMs, designers and other developers

Pay Range

$100,000-$115,000 per annum

Compensation decisions are made based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan.

Work Requirements

This role is considered an on-site position located in Austin,TX USA

• You must be able to commute to and from the location with your own transportation arrangements to meet the required working hours.
• Shop floor environment, which may include but not limited to extensive walking, and ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
