Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join Consumer & Community Banking to drive secure, scalable software solutions. You will contribute technically across SDLC, lead AI-assisted development practices, and ensure robust testing and observability.

You will guide architecture reviews, mentor teams, manage CI/CD pipelines, and build Java-based microservices with REST and event-driven patterns in a high-performance environment.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.

Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support)
• Applies knowledge of SDLC tools, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve automation value
• Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs and applicability for use within existing systems
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new technologies
• Owns end-to-end DevOps execution for the team’s SDLC, including pipelines, release practices, environment promotion strategy, and automated quality gates
• Defines and enforces comprehensive testing strategy across the stack (unit, contract, component, functional, performance, resilience) with consistent test data/environment approaches
• Leads design and implementation of Java-based microservices and back-end APIs (REST/event-driven) for scalability and security
