Job summary

Mercor is seeking meticulous Japanese language annotators to build training data for Japanese documents. You will identify and bound all meaningful regions on each page, assign reading order, and ensure exact transcription, including furigana and handwritten content.

The role emphasizes accuracy and consistency across hundreds of pages. Applicants should be native Japanese speakers with experience in transcription/editorial work or related document-intensive tasks.

Qualifications

• Native Japanese speaker with full command of kanji, hiragana and katakana.
• Experience in interpretation, transcription, translation, editorial work, or comparable document-intensive work.
• Character-level accuracy is essential.

Responsibilities

• Open and check tasks to ensure page is in Japanese and legible.
• Annotate structure by region and assign component types and reading order.
• Record relationships between regions and parent figures/tables.
• Transcribe faithfully, including furigana and handwritten content.
• Capture page metadata and hand over for peer review.
