Job summary

Mercor seeks a native Japanese annotator for a data-annotation project focused on Japanese documents. You will annotate page structures, bound regions, and reading order with exact transcription of kanji, kana, furigana, and handwriting.

You will review work end-to-end, flag unreadable regions, and ensure every region is correctly typed and linked to its parent figure or table. Attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• Native Japanese speaker with full command of kanji, hiragana and katakana.
• Character-level accuracy is essential for transcription and annotation.
• Experience in interpretation, journalism, transcription, or editorial work is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Open and verify that tasks are in Japanese and legible before annotating.
• Identify and bound every meaningful region of the page with type and reading order.
• Record relationships between regions and figures or tables; ensure precise transcription.
