Job summary

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a Custodial-Night Porter on the island of Oahu. The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to stand and walk for extended shifts, while also being capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning, dusting, and sanitizing restrooms and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
• Restroom cleaning.
• Emptying trash and recycling; dispose of waste.
• Restocking soap and paper products.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Report maintenance issues or safety hazards.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Cleaning, dusting, and sanitizing restrooms and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
• Restroom cleaning
• Emptying trash and recycling bins; and dispose of waste in the designated areas.
• Empty wastebaskets and replace liners as necessary.
• Dust tops of furniture, files, and tables.
• Monitor the general floor area for scraps, paper clips, etc.
• Spot clean doors and light switches to remove smudges and finger marks (Clean finger marks from both sides of glass doors)
• Clean/disinfect all sinks, toilet bowls, and urinals with a germicidal solution, including tile walls near urinals and toilets.
• Clean/polish all mirrors, exposed piping below basins/bowls/urinals, towel dispensers, receptacles, and any other metal surfaces.
• Restocking supplies such as soap and paper products.
• Maintaining cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Ensuring a clean and orderly environment for staff and visitors.
• Reporting any maintenance issues or safety hazards.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by your H.B.M. supervisor.

Skills and Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Must successfully pass prescreen check.
• Previous experience in custodial or cleaning roles is desirable.
• Ability to perform tasks in various weather conditions.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the workday.
• Physically capable of carrying, lifting, pushing, or pulling between 25 to 50 pounds, as well as standing for long stretches and performing tasks like stretching, kneeling, bending, crawling, climbing, and pressing.
• Competence in safely and effectively operating cleaning equipment.
• Willingness to learn and participate in training for the position.
• Capability to work independently and manage time efficiently
• Good communication skills in English and the ability to work well in a team.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude towards maintaining cleanliness standards.
