Job summary

FuelCell Energy is seeking a dependable janitor to maintain clean and safe facilities at our Torrington site in Connecticut. The role involves cleaning offices, restrooms, break areas, and common spaces, plus operating cleaning equipment and restocking supplies.

The position may require evening or weekend hours depending on business needs. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent and prior janitorial experience, with strong attention to detail and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize designated areas including offices, restrooms, break rooms, hallways, and common spaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors as needed.
• Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly.
• Restock restroom and cleaning supplies, including soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue.
• Clean windows, mirrors, doors, and other surfaces to maintain a neat appearance.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and floor scrubbers.
• Report safety hazards, maintenance issues, or supply shortages to the supervisor.
• Follow cleaning schedules, safety procedures, and company policies.
• Assist with seasonal or special cleaning projects as assigned.
• Support facility readiness by helping with basic room setup or cleanup when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The Janitor works in indoor and, at times, outdoor areas of the facility. The role may require evening, overnight, weekend, or holiday hours depending on business needs. Proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safety procedures are expected at all times.

This position requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, reaching, and repetitive motion throughout the shift. The employee may be required to lift and carry cleaning supplies or equipment and work safely around cleaning chemicals and machinery.
