Job Description: Janitor

We are hiring immediately for full-time Janitor positions at Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte, NC. Online applications are accepted only.

Schedule: Full-time; days may vary, typically 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. More details provided during interview.

Requirements: Minimum of one year of janitorial experience.

Pay Range: $13.00 to $14.00 per hour.

Job Summary

Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of buildings by performing heavy cleaning duties such as floor cleaning, rug shampooing, wall and glass washing, and rubbish removal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Dispose of trash following approved procedures and infection control plans.
• Dust and damp mop floors.
• Move and replace furniture and equipment for cleaning.
• Clean assigned areas using appropriate materials and equipment, following the eight-step cleaning process.
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, and baseboards to ensure a safe, clean environment.
• Identify areas needing cleaning and take initiative to complete tasks.
• Complete all tasks assigned by supervisor, adhering to all relevant guidelines.
• Strip, scrub, buff, and refinish floors; shampoo carpets.
• Contribute positively to the team and maintain professionalism.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
