Job description

Who we are

More efficient. More accurate. More accessible. Exol is bringing industry-leading automation to businesses of all sizes through an innovative warehouse-as-a-service model.

Position Overview

As a Janitor, you will keep the fulfillment center clean, sanitary, and safe — maintaining floors, restrooms, break areas, and offices, and supporting the facility's food-safety and good-manufacturing-practice (GMP) cleanliness standards. This is a safety-sensitive position performed around moving equipment and cleaning chemicals.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  • Facility Cleaning: Sweep, mop, scrub, and maintain warehouse, restroom, break-room, and office areas to established standards.
  • Floor Care: Safely operate floor scrubbers, sweepers, and buffers, and maintain the equipment.
  • Waste & Supplies: Collect, sort, and dispose of trash and recycling; restock restroom and cleaning supplies.
  • Sanitation & GMP: Sanitize high-touch surfaces and support food-safety / GMP cleanliness standards in applicable areas.
  • Chemical Safety: Handle, label, and store cleaning chemicals safely per Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and the HazCom program; report facility, maintenance, and safety issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking For
  • Thoroughness: Attention to detail and pride in a clean, orderly, and safe environment.
  • Safe Practices: Willingness to follow SDS/HazCom and PPE requirements when using equipment and chemicals.
  • Physical Readiness: Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout a full shift, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Reliability: Consistent, punctual attendance, and dependability.
  • Self-Motivated & Accountable: Must be a self-starter who can work independently, stay on task, and effectively manage daily responsibilities with minimal supervision. The ability to identify priorities, maintain productivity throughout the shift, and take ownership of assigned areas is essential. Must communicate promptly and professionally when issues, supply shortages, maintenance concerns, or other challenges arise, ensuring they are addressed in a timely manner.
Minimum Requirements
  • Age: Must be at least 18 years of age (required to operate powered floor-care equipment).
  • Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, or comparable custodial, janitorial, or cleaning experience; will train.
  • Chemical & Equipment Safety: Ability to follow SDS/HazCom procedures and safely use cleaning chemicals and powered floor-care equipment with required PPE.
Physical Demands – Frequency Key

The physical activities below reflect the essential functions of this position and are estimated as follows: “Occasionally” = up to 1/3 of the shift; “Frequently” = 1/3 to 2/3 of the shift; “Continuously” = 2/3 or more of the shift. A typical shift is 8 to 12 hours, including overtime.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position throughout a full shift, with or without reasonable accommodation, including frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, and repetitive motions, and occasional climbing or use of step stools.
  • Time on Foot (Standing & Walking): This is a physically active, on-your-feet role. The associate stands and walks frequently to continuously — typically for the majority of the shift — on hard and sometimes wet or uneven surfaces, with limited opportunity to sit.
  • Lifting & Carrying: Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate loads (supplies, waste, and equipment); occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. Team lifting or mechanical assistance is expected for heavier or awkward loads.
  • Literacy & Communication: Ability to read, understand, and follow written cleaning procedures, chemical labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and HazCom and PPE instructions in English; ability to correctly interpret warning labels and chemical dilution instructions; and ability to communicate clearly with team members and supervisors.
  • Schedule Requirements: Ability to work assigned shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in a warehouse environment that may include moving equipment, automation systems, varying temperatures, noise, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; employment is contingent on completion of Form I-9 and E-Verify confirmation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior commercial cleaning, janitorial, or custodial experience, including powered floor-care equipment.
  • Experience in a GMP, food-grade, or regulated facility.
Reasonable Accommodation

The responsibilities and physical requirements described above represent the essential functions of this position. Exol is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions and to participate in the application process.
