About The Position

The Industrial Custodian is responsible for performing routine janitorial and general labor duties with minimum supervision, as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and/or department leader.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

• Sweep and clean plant and office floors.
• Remove excess boxes, crates, packaging, and trash from containers throughout the plant.
• Maintain locker rooms, restrooms, and lunchrooms to ensure sanitary conditions.
• Clean all plant offices as requested and needed.
• Operate floor sweeper and forklift in the performance of duties.
• Perform seasonal tasks, such as removing ice and snow and controlling weeds.
• Clean and/or replace furnace filters and maintain humidifiers.
• Perform other janitorial or general labor duties throughout the facility as qualified and assigned.
  
  

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:

• Perform work standing on concrete up to 10 hours per day
• Able to use general mechanical and maintenance tools/equipment
• Able to maneuver in a congested work environment with usual working conditions associated with heavy equipment repair (exhaust, solvent, etc.)
• Able to work on, in, around, and under equipment as necessary to perform duties (climb ladders, work platforms, stairs, etc.)
• Able to read and interpret necessary instructions or specifications required to perform duties
• Computer experience desired, particularly the ability to use a mouse and locate and open/close files

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Manufacturing Environment

The shop manufacturing environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions, and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, and very warm and chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times, consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
