Job summary

Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office is seeking personnel to supervise security within the county jail facility. The role requires monitoring inmate and visitor movement, operating security systems, and coordinating emergency responses.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of clerical work with public contact, and strong communication and computer skills. The position reports to the Jail Division and may involve non-business hour duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Two years clerical experience with direct public contact and data entry training
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and management
• Proficient in computer software applications

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control access, conduct and movement of inmates, visitors and staff within the jail facilities
• Operate, monitor and respond to radio calls and intercoms
• Oversee security of the entire facility including doors, perimeter, sally port, and elevators
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with Shift Supervisor and emergency services as directed
• Receive paperwork, court orders, and bonds; notify intake staff as needed
• Receive arrestees and manage front entrance during hours and non-business hours
• Perform other duties as assigned and report to Jail Sergeants, Lieutenants, or Captain
