Job summary

Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board is seeking a Substance Use Disorder Counselor for jail-based services in Virginia. You will manage a caseload, conduct screenings, and develop individualized treatment plans while delivering group and individual counseling.

The role includes crisis intervention, discharge planning, and coordinating with correctional staff and community providers to support long-term recovery and reduce recidivism.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human services is required.
• One year of experience with SUD or correctional settings.
• CSAC credential or CSAC Supervisee within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of incarcerated individuals in jail-based treatment.
• Conduct screenings and intake assessments and develop treatment plans.
• Provide group and individual counseling and substance use education.
• Coordinate case management and crisis intervention as needed.
• Assist with discharge planning and reentry support, linking to resources.
