Job summary

Southwestern Behavioral Healthcare in Evansville, IN is seeking compassionate Peer Support Specialists to join our jail-based team on a full-time or part-time basis. Support individuals on recovery and aid community reentry with person-centered, trauma-informed coaching.

Certification through DMHA or CPRC is preferred; candidates with a valid driver's license and successful background checks are encouraged to apply. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification preferred; eligibility required.
• Indiana CPSP-DMHA or CPRC credentials listed.
• Valid driver’s license and required insurance.
• Background checks and a drug screen are required.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with substance use disorders as they prepare for recovery and community reentry.
• Engage individuals early during booking and intake to identify recovery support needs.
• Provide one-on-one coaching and advocacy within the Vanderburgh County Jail using a person-centered, trauma-informed approach.
• Connect participants with treatment, recovery, and community resources.
• Assist with reentry planning to promote successful transitions back into the community.
