Southwestern Behavioral Healthcare is seeking full-time and part-time Peer Support Specialists to join our jail‑based team in Evansville, IN. The role focuses on supporting individuals on their recovery journey with a person‑centered, trauma‑informed approach.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED; certification is preferred (Indiana CPSP‑DMHA or CPRC). A valid driver’s license and background checks/drug screen are required. Weekend availability is necessary.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification preferred; eligibility required. To be considered certified, must have either: Indiana Certified Peer Support Professional (CPSP‑DMHA), or Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC‑A or CPRC – ICAADA).
• Valid driver’s license and required insurance.
• All candidates must undergo required background checks and a drug screen. Findings are evaluated in accordance with applicable laws, VCS policy and organizational policy and do not automatically disqualify applicants.

Responsabilités

• Support individuals with substance use disorders as they prepare for recovery and community reentry.
• Engage individuals early during booking and intake to identify recovery support needs.
• Provide one‑on‑one coaching and advocacy within the Vanderburgh County Jail using a person‑centered, trauma‑informed approach.
• Connect participants with treatment, recovery, and community resources.
• Assist with reentry planning to promote successful transitions back into the community.
