Job summary

Southwestern Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a compassionate Full-Time Forensic Certified Peer to join our jail-based team in Evansville, IN. You will use your lived experience to support recovery, engage with individuals with SPMI or substance use disorders, and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary treatment team delivering FACT services.

Certification preferred (Indiana CPSP-DMHA or CPRC) with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification preferred; eligibility required.
• Indiana CPSP-DMHA or CPRC certifications indicated as eligible.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and required insurance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver peer recovery support services as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team focused on reducing recidivism among justice-involved individuals receiving FACT services.
• Support individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders in recognizing and overcoming stigma, guiding recovery.
• Provide person-centered, recovery-oriented services that honor each person’s strengths and goals.
• Assist individuals in articulating personal recovery goals and actionable steps.
• Monitor progress, provide feedback, and alert the team to concerns or deviations from plans.
• Leverage lived experience to model recovery, build rapport, and foster therapeutic relationships.
• Participate in trainings, team meetings, and collaboration for coordinated care.
• Contribute to individualized community re-entry plans for smoother transitions to independent living.
