South County Mental Health Center, Inc. is seeking a compassionate Peer Specialist in Forensics to provide peer support, advocacy, and recovery-focused case management to individuals receiving behavioral health services.

This role promotes hope, empowerment, and client-centered care within a collaborative clinical team. The position emphasizes using lived experience to support wellness goals, access to resources, and independent living, while adhering to program standards and documentation

Qualifications

• Must be a consumer of mental health services.
• Aiming completion of Florida Recovery Peer Specialist training.
• Basic computer proficiency and EMR familiarity.
• Valid driver’s license; reliable transportation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide face-to-face peer support services to clients.
• Provide telephonic support and follow-up services.
• Promote client rights, advocacy, and self-determination.
• Meet with clients in Outpatient Department and CSU to provide support.
• Assist clients with applications for benefits and community services.
• Refer clients to appropriate treatment, housing, and support resources.
• Adhere to Florida Certification Board standards governing Peer Specialist activities.
• Introduce clients to WRAP and monitor progress toward wellness goals.
• Document services in the EMR and maintain case notes.
