Job summary

SSG-Project 180 in Los Angeles is seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist to join the Intensive Case Management Services team. You will provide recovery-oriented support to individuals with forensic backgrounds, conducting sessions and helping access housing, benefits, and community resources.

You will rely on lived experience and harm-reduction principles, collaborating with a multidisciplinary treatment team to promote engagement, safety, and meaningful progress toward goals.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery.
• California Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification required by hire.
• Valid CA driver’s license and own vehicle.
• Experience with culturally diverse populations.
• Must not be on any type of legal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer-to-peer support and counseling drawing from lived experience.
• Actively engage clients in services through rapport, contact, motivational interviewing and de-escalation.
• Assess safety concerns and respond to crises using de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques.
• Provide a calm, supportive presence while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Deliver individual and group psychoeducation related to recovery skills and empowerment.
