UPMC Center for Fertility and Reproductive Endocrinology in the Pittsburgh area is seeking a skilled Embryologist to join a highly specialized IVF laboratory dedicated to advancing reproductive medicine. The role covers all embryology duties, with occasional work in andrology and endocrine assays, and requires day, weekend, and holiday shifts with on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• Previous laboratory experience required.
• Previous Embryology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in clinical research, program committees and seminars.
• Ensure maintenance of Quality Assurance program.
• Function independently performing Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) and Assisted Hatching (AH).
• Assist in developing an outreach program at various cancer centers for cryopreservation of gametes.
• Independently perform trophoblast embryo biopsy and cell fixation for pre-implantation genetic testing, ensuring successful genetic test results and embryo viability post-biopsy and cryopreservation.
• Provide technical expertise in the human embryology lab.
• Ensure maintenance of laboratory quality control.
• Provide technical information to non-laboratory staff members. Assist in developing an outreach program at various cancer centers for cryopreservation of gametes. Maintains competency and meet established embryology performance benchmarks. Work flexible hours. Including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as assigned. Provides on-call coverage as assigned.
• Participate in the clinical management of patients with particular emphasis on embryology technology.
• Participate in an orientation program for the development of nurses pertaining to embryology.
• Assist with the implementation of laboratory protocols.
• Responsible for the preparation of MESA/TESE sperm for ICSI, to ensure the optimal sample possible.
