Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in biology, chemistry, reproductive biology, medical technology, or animal science from an accredited institution.
  • Meet state-specific certification/licensure requirements, if applicable.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in an IVF laboratory.
  • Completion of at least 30 documented supervised procedures (30 of each type).
  • Preferred: completion of at least 20 documented independent procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct the full range of basic Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) laboratory procedures under the direction of the Laboratory Director and/or senior embryologists.
  • Prepare serum/media with accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Perform related lab tests for IVF treatment, including semen analysis and hormone tests.
  • Prepare sperm to remove dead cells and purify samples, meeting qualitative goals for successful inseminations.
  • Retrieve eggs and remove cumulus cells, meeting established targets for average egg numbers.
  • Perform conventional and ICSI inseminations, meeting fertilization percentage goals.
  • Check fertilization after both conventional insemination and ICSI, achieving targets for mature eggs fertilized and placed in culture.
  • Grade embryos to select those for transfer, meeting proficiency testing goals twice per year.
  • Warm and transfer embryos, monitored by pregnancy rate per transfer.
  • Vitrify embryos with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate proficiency by maintaining high survival rates for warmed embryos.
  • Learn and become proficient in advanced IVF procedures such as ICSI, embryo biopsy, and egg vitrification under guidance.
  • Conduct daily quality control activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
  • Support laboratory cleanliness and operation, including cryo‑tank maintenance, equipment upkeep, and inventory control.
  • Comply with U.S. regulations and state laws regarding human ART and follow laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Lab Director and team to identify best practices and improve processes.
  • Follow detailed standard operating procedures and safety policies.
  • Meet laboratory quality standards and numerical goals set by the Lab Director.
  • Ensure sufficient supplies and assist with ordering as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
