Job summary

BRMi in Virginia is seeking a QA Tester to create test plan documents using Navy Federal standards and templates, analyze results, and provide recommendations. You will coordinate System Integration Testing across basic to moderately complex systems and participate in SAFe-aligned SDLC activities.

Ideal candidates have ISTQB certifications (Foundation/Advanced), strong analytical skills, and experience with test automation, cross-functional collaboration, and tight deadlines in an IT environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience
  • Basic understanding of business and operating environment
  • Effective technical skills working with various software programs
  • Working knowledge of testing tools, dependent on the project/product
  • Working knowledge of various database types
  • Advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Create test plan documents using Navy Federal test standards and templates
  • Analyze and interpret results; present recommendations, alternatives, risks, and downstream impacts
  • Provide progress reports, test case and plan documentation, root-cause defect reporting, risk and blocker updates
  • Coordinate and perform testing of basic to moderately complex systems during System Integration Testing
  • Participate in moderately complex System Development Life Cycle activities using SAFe Agile best practices and methodologies
  • Participate in project and change sizing and estimation
  • Create and update manual test cases/scripts in approved test tools
  • Build manual test cases/scripts with automation in mind
  • Execute existing automated test cases/scripts
  • Update basic automation test cases/scripts and troubleshoot errors
  • Write basic end-to-end automated test cases/scripts independently
  • Create required documentation, including test results, knowledge articles, and sign-off materials
  • Document defects/bugs and follow defect/bug lifecycle procedures
  • Perform root-cause analysis for defects/bugs and provide documentation to developers
  • Collaborate with peers, developers, business partners, and stakeholders
  • Analyze policy, procedure, and product changes and determine downstream testing impacts
  • Identify process, data, and technology improvement opportunities and provide recommendations
  • Recommend testing practices to optimize processes
  • Participate in project and product team meetings while maintaining focus on goals and objectives
