Job summary

BRMi is seeking an ISTQB Certified Tester to support a large financial services client in Vienna, VA, in a hybrid work environment. The role emphasizes test planning, execution, and defect management within Navy Federal testing standards.

The candidate will create and maintain test artifacts, participate in SAFe Agile processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality across basic to moderately complex systems.

Qualifications

  • ISTQB Foundation level certification (CTFL).
  • Experience with testing processes including creating a test plan and opening bugs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Experience in cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Create Test Plan documents utilizing Navy Federal Test Standards and templates.
  • Perform analysis and interpret results, present recommendations, risks, and downstream impacts.
  • Coordinate and perform testing of basic to moderately complex systems during System Integration Testing.
  • Participate in SAFe Agile best practices and methodologies.
  • Create and update manual test cases/scripts; build automation with established guidelines.
  • Execute existing automated test case/scripts and troubleshoot errors.
  • Provide detailed defect documentation and lifecycle adherence.

Overview

BRMi is seeking an ISTQB Certified Tester to support a large financial services client in a hybrid work environment in Vienna VA.

Salary: $105-123K

Hybrid in Vienna VA 3 days per week.

**An In Person interview will be required for this role**

Responsibilities
  • Create Test Plan documents utilizing Navy Federal Test Standards and templates
  • Perform analysis and interpret results, present recommendations, potential alternatives, risks, and downstream impacts
  • Ensure clear, concise, and effective communication including progress reports, test case or plan documentation, root-cause defect reporting, risks, blockers, etc., to facilitate accurate understanding of testing activities
  • Coordinate and perform testing of basic to moderately complex systems during the System Integration Testing phase
  • Participate in moderately complex System Development Life Cycles activities utilizing SAFe Agile best practices and methodologies
  • Participate in sizing and estimation for projects and changes
  • Create and/or update manual test case/scripts within the approved and appropriate test tool(s) for basic to moderately complex non-integrated & simple integrated systems
  • Build basic to moderately complex manual test case/scripts with automation in mind following established test management guidelines
  • Execute existing automated test case/scripts
  • Solution and update basic automation test case/scripts and trouble shoot errors
  • Write end to end basic automated test case/scripts independently, ensuring adherence to established policies and best practices
  • Create all required documentation (test results, knowledge articles, sign-off, etc.) following Navy Federal Testing Standards, tools and templates
  • Provide detailed documentation of defects/bugs, follow established defect/bug lifecycle procedures and policies to ensure test case evidence of successful resolution without collateral impacts
  • Perform root cause analysis for identified defects/bugs and provide detailed documentation to developers for solutioning
  • Collaborate with peers, Developers, business partners and all other stakeholders to ensure business needs are communicated, documented, and satisfied
  • Perform analysis related to changes in policies, procedures, and products; determine downstream impacts on testing
  • Analyze and identify process, data or technology improvement opportunities, provide recommendations to include risk considerations and downstream impacts
  • Provide recommendations related to testing practices to facilitate process optimization
  • Participate in project and product team meetings, collaborating and contributing while maintaining line of sight on goals and objectives
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience
  • Basic understanding of business and operating environment
  • Effective technical skills working with various software programs
  • Working knowledge of testing tools, dependent on the project/product
  • Working knowledge of various database types
  • Advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of with testing processes, including creating a test plan and opening bugs
  • Ability to handle fast-paced work environment with tight deadlines
  • Experience working and participating in cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience following Systems Development Life Cycles
  • Effective organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
  • Advanced skill presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and concisely
  • Effective skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal's services, products, and functions
  • Experience working in an IT environment
  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal business processes and applications
  • ISTQB Foundation level certification (CTFL)
  • ISTQB Advance level certifications (Agile Testing, Test Analyst, Test Manager) - DESIRED
  • Certification in Scaled Agile Framework (ie., Leading SAFe, PO/PM, etc) - DESIRED
  • Knowledge of Navy Federal’s functions, philosophy, operations and organizational objectives - DESIRED
