Job summary

Chester County Intermediate Unit is seeking an itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired / Orientation & Mobility Instructor to provide vision support services across Chester County and surrounding areas. The role includes direct O&M instruction aligned with IEP goals and collaboration with families and school staff.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree, PA TVI certification, ACVREP O&M certification, and background checks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Master's degree strongly preferred.
• PA Teacher of the Visually Impaired Certification required.
• Orientation & Mobility Certification (ACVREP) required.
• Current police, child abuse, and FBI fingerprints required.
• Clearance as an MA provider by PA and federal government obtained upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct functional vision assessments.
• Consult with families to support students' travel skills and needs.
• Consult with school personnel to ensure safe travel accommodations.
• Provide direct instruction in O&M based on IEP goals.
• Develop O&M IEP goals including transportation and community travel.
• Conduct O&M assessments for visually impaired children referred by educational team.
