Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking itinerant SPED Float Teachers to support students with disabilities across the district during the 2025/2026 school year. You will adapt general education lessons and teach multiple subjects to students with mild to moderate disabilities.

This role requires frequent travel within the district and the ability to work as a float teacher, rotating assignments to meet student needs and IEP goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education is required.
• Master’s degree is preferred.
• Colorado teaching license (CDE) or DPS acceptable alternative (CDE Application Receipt for 90 days).
• Experience with students with disabilities and diverse backgrounds is preferred.
• Frequent travel across the district is required.
• Commitment to equity and high-quality education.

Responsibilities

• Help students develop competence and confidence through a balance of acquiring basic skills and developing conceptual understanding.
• Provide instruction based on students’ IEPs (Individualized Education Programs).
• Monitor, supervise, coordinate and reinforce positive student behaviors in line with policy.
• Observe, evaluate, report and record students’ performance, behavior, social development, and health.
• Communicate with parents/guardians, teachers, counselors, related service providers, and administrators to resolve educational and behavioral issues.
• Prepare educational outlines, objectives and materials according to curriculum guidelines.
• Present subject matter using various teaching methods and technology, adapting to learning styles.
• Participate in extra-duty activities as outlined in the teachers' bargaining agreement.
