Job summary

Jasper Engines & Transmissions in Jasper, IN seeks a skilled CNC Machinist for setup, programming and operation of CNC mills and lathes. You will read blueprints, develop fixtures and tooling, and machine parts to exact specifications.

Candidate must read CAD drawings, perform precise measurements with micrometers and calipers, and stand for long shifts. Overtime, solid benefits and growth are offered in a climate-controlled facility.

Qualifications

• Must read blueprints, sketches and samples to machine parts per specifications.
• Basic math, geometry and trigonometry are critical.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work a full shift.
• Experience with micrometers, calipers, and gauges is preferred.
• Prior lathe or milling experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program and operate CNC machines (mills/lathes).
• Develop fixture placement and tooling processes.
• Inspect parts using precision measuring tools and ensure tolerance.
• Read CAD drawings and sketch parts to aid machining.
• Maintain clean work area and handle light lifting as needed.

Job Description:ITD – CNC MachinistLocation: Jasper HQ- Jasper, IN815 Wernsing Rd, Jasper IN 47546Job Overview: CNC Machinists are skilled in setup, programming, and operation of CNC machine tools and the development of fixture placement and tooling processes. They possess the skills of a setup technician operation and programmer. They may specialize in the use of any type or multiple types of CNC machine tools. They will study printing, selection of material, establish plans for machining operations, understand machine programming languages, and have skill using computer aided manufacturing software. This position requires an individual to read and understand blueprints, sketches, and samples to accurately machine parts to customer specifications. Some light duty lifting required and using a hoist to install vises, jigs, fixtures, and heavy work pieces onto the mill or lathe for machining. Use precision measuring equipment with both hands to accurately machine parts. Operating the controls of the mill or lathe with both hands to remove material from parts in conjunction with the specs and accuracy required for specific job. Check lubricating fluid and fill as necessary. Clean mill and lathe work area as needed and at the end of each shift. Prior Lathe or Milling experience preferred. Must be able to use micrometers, calipers, and t-gauges...bench and disc sanders...horizontal and vertical bandsaws.LATHE OPERATION: Holding parts, tooling/sharpening, setup, cutting speeds and feeds, 4-jaw chuck, precision machining (.0001), cutting threads.MILLING OPERATION: Use of mill, attachments, cutters and holders, cutter RPM and feed rates, mill flat surfaces, squaring parts, milling grooves, drilling, and tapping, boring, dividing or indexing head, setting up angles.Position must also be able to identify types of metal and other material, understand CAD drawings and be able to sketch a part.
