Job summary

Jasper Engines & Transmissions is seeking a CNC Machinist to join our Jasper HQ team. The role covers setup, programming, and operation of CNC mills and lathes, with emphasis on fixture placement, tooling processes, and reading blueprints to meet customer specifications.

Candidates should be able to use micrometers and calipers, lift up to 50 lbs, and work a Monday–Friday schedule with potential overtime; experience with CAD drawings and geometric math is a plus.

Qualifications

• Ability to read blueprints and samples to accurately machine parts.
• Proficient in setup, operation, and programming basics for CNC tools.
• Strong math skills including geometry and trigonometry.

Responsibilities

Job Description: ITD – CNC Machinist

Location: Jasper HQ- Jasper, IN 815 Wernsing Rd, Jasper IN 47546

Job Overview

CNC Machinists are skilled in setup, programming, and operation of CNC machine tools and the development of fixture placement and tooling processes. They possess the skills of a setup technician operation and programmer. They may specialize in the use of any type or multiple types of CNC machine tools. They will study printing, selection of material, establish plans for machining operations, understand machine programming languages, and have skill using computer aided manufacturing software. This position requires an individual to read and understand blueprints, sketches, and samples to accurately machine parts to customer specifications. Some light duty lifting required and using a hoist to install vises, jigs, fixtures, and heavy work pieces onto the mill or lathe for machining. Use precision measuring equipment with both hands to accurately machine parts. Operating the controls of the mill or lathe with both hands to remove material from parts in conjunction with the specs and accuracy required for specific job. Check lubricating fluid and fill as necessary. Clean mill and lathe work area as needed and at the end of each shift. Prior Lathe or Milling experience preferred. Must be able to use micrometers, calipers, and t-gauges...bench and disc sanders...horizontal and vertical bandsaws. LATHE OPERATION: Holding parts, tooling/sharpening, setup, cutting speeds and feeds, 4-jaw chuck, precision machining (.0001), cutting threads. MILLING OPERATION: Use of mill, attachments, cutters and holders, cutter RPM and feed rates, mill flat surfaces, squaring parts, milling grooves, drilling, and tapping, boring, dividing or indexing head, setting up angles. Position must also be able to identify types of metal and other material, understand CAD drawings and be able to sketch a part. Basic math, geometry and trigonometry skills are also critical.

Holding parts, tooling/sharpening, setup, cutting speeds and feeds, 4-jaw chuck, precision machining (.0001), cutting threads.

MILLING OPERATION

Use of mill, attachments, cutters and holders, cutter RPM and feed rates, mill flat surfaces, squaring parts, milling grooves, drilling, and tapping, boring, dividing or indexing head, setting up angles.

Schedule

Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:30am-3:00pm Overtime available

Qualifications

The ability to lift, bend, push, pull and move materials up to 50lbs. The ability to stand or walk an entire shift (can be approx... 8-10 hours) The ability to use handheld tools such as Hammers, Screwdrivers, Wrenches, Tape Measures, Micrometers, Calipers, Etc. Standing: Continuously Walking: Continuously Sitting: Occasionally Stooping (forward leaning): Occasional. Reaching/Working Overhead: Occasionally.
