Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking an ITAD Technician to test, diagnose, repair, sanitize data, image systems, and process IT assets for resale, redeployment, recycling, or destruction. The role supports secure asset handling, efficiency, and data destruction compliance across desktops, laptops, servers, and networking gear.

Three levels exist based on expertise, productivity, quality, independence, troubleshooting, and leadership. Lifting up to 50 lbs may be required in a warehouse setting.

Qualifications

• Level I requires a HS diploma and 0–1 years IT support or related experience.
• Level II requires a HS diploma and 2–4 years ITAD/IT support experience.
• Level III requires a HS diploma and 4+ years ITAD/repair experience.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The ITAD Technician is responsible for the testing, diagnosis, repair, data sanitization, imaging, configuration, and processing of IT assets within the IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) operation. This role supports secure asset handling, operational efficiency, customer service requirements, data destruction compliance, and product recovery initiatives. Technicians may process desktops, laptops, servers, networking equipment, mobile devices, and other electronic assets for resale, redeployment, recycling, or destruction.

This position has three levels based on technical expertise, productivity, quality, independence, troubleshooting ability, and leadership contribution.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform testing and functional evaluation of IT assets
• Execute data wiping and sanitization procedures according to company and client standards
• Diagnose hardware issues and determine disposition status
• Install, configure, or image operating systems and software as required
• Process assets according to operational workflows and customer requirements
• Maintain accurate asset tracking and documentation
• Follow chain-of-custody and data security procedures
• Meet productivity, quality, and turnaround expectations
• Maintain organized and compliant workstations
• Adhere to environmental, health and safety standards
• Escalate technical or operational issues appropriately
• Support inventory control and asset reconciliation processes

Education and Experience:

• Level 1: High School Diploma and at 0-1 years of IT technical support, warehouse technology, or electronics experience preferred
• Level II: High School diploma and at least 2-4 years of ITAD, IT Support, repair, refurbishment, or technical operations
• Level III: High School Diploma and at least 4+ years of ITAD, Computer repair experience and strong knowledge of processes

Physical Requirements:

• Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment (dust, noise, temperature changes).
• Ability to work at computer stations and testing benches for extended periods of time
• Ability to use hands and fingers for repetitive tasks, including handling small electronic components and tools.
