Overview
The IT Depot Technician plays a critical role in the lifecycle management of IT hardware assets across the organization. This position is responsible for the receipt, imaging, preparation, deployment, and return processing of end-user devices, ensuring that hardware is accurately tracked, properly configured, and delivered to end users in a timely and professional manner. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that requires both independent execution and close collaboration with IT, operations, and service desk teams.
Key Responsibilities
Hardware Lifecycle & Asset Management
- Receive, inspect, catalog, and store incoming IT hardware in designated functional areas
- Coordinate hardware deployment, redeployment, assignment, and returns across the organization
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure the asset catalog is up-to-date at all times
- Physically prepare, clean, and refurbish returned assets for redeployment
- Manage and reconcile delivery receipts, packing slips, and purchase documentation in coordination with the hardware procurement team
Device Imaging & Configuration
- Image desktops and laptops according to documented build standards and deployment procedures
- Validate device readiness prior to shipment or deployment, ensuring proper configuration and functionality
- Troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues encountered during the imaging and preparation process
Logistics & Shipping Coordination
- Prepare and package hardware for shipment, ensuring proper handling and labeling
- Coordinate with remote resources to facilitate receipt and installation of shipped equipment at distributed locations
- Track outbound and inbound shipments and follow up on delivery exceptions or delays
Stakeholder Collaboration & Support
- Serve as a liaison between operations support staff and the service desk to process and fulfill hardware requests
- Communicate proactively with end users and IT teams regarding deployment status and timelines
- Provide a high level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions
Required Qualifications
Experience & Skills
- Experience in an IT support, depot, or asset management environment
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems and basic system administration tasks
- Understanding of computer hardware components, peripherals, and software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Strong organizational skills including scheduling, documentation management, and workflow coordination
- Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to interpret and act on data

Preferred Qualifications
- Comprehensive experience with IT asset management (ITAM) and PC lifecycle management
- Hands‑on experience with AMDB/CMDB systems and ITSM platforms and processes
- Knowledge of ITIL best practices; ITIL Foundation certification a plus
- Familiarity with Remedy (BMC Helix) and asset management console functionality
- Experience working in enterprise or large‑scale deployment environments.
