Job description

Maintain the technology that clinicians and operational teams rely on to deliver safe, efficient care across UVA Community Health's Culpeper locations. This is a hands-on opportunity to solve meaningful technical challenges, strengthen system reliability, and see the immediate impact of your work in a healthcare environment.

As an IT Technician Senior with Desktop Services, you will support end-user computers, clinical endpoint technology, printers, peripherals, and related systems throughout the hospital and affiliated clinics. You will bring advanced troubleshooting skills, strong customer service, and a high level of ownership to a stable, full-time role with consistent day-shift hours from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Role

You will serve as a trusted technical resource for clinicians, staff, and operational partners, resolving issues that affect productivity and access to essential technology. Most days will involve traditional break/fix desktop support, equipment replacement, system maintenance, and detailed documentation, along with opportunities to contribute to device deployments and technology lifecycle initiatives.

In this role, you will:

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, peripheral, and connectivity issues across Windows-based workstations.
  • Support desktops, laptops, clinical workstations, printers, and other endpoint technologies.
  • Perform equipment maintenance, repairs, replacements, staging, and lifecycle activities.
  • Communicate technical solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical customers.
  • Maintain accurate, timely service records and document troubleshooting steps, progress, and resolutions.
  • Manage multiple assignments independently while prioritizing service needs and meeting established expectations.
  • Partner with Desktop Services, Health Information Technology, clinical operations, vendors, and project teams.
  • Identify risks early, elevate issues appropriately, and follow assignments through to resolution.
  • Travel between the Culpeper hospital and affiliated off-site clinics based on operational needs.
  • Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation once training is complete.

Success in this position means becoming a reliable, accountable resource who can independently resolve routine and complex issues while knowing when collaboration or escalation is needed. The strongest candidates bring significant desktop or endpoint support experience, meticulous documentation habits, technical curiosity, and a genuine commitment to customer service. Experience supporting healthcare environments, endpoint deployments, ServiceNow, enterprise imaging, device management, or Epic-related endpoints is especially valuable.
