Job summary

The University of New Mexico's Office of the Medical Investigator seeks an IT Technician to support a 24/7 forensic environment. You’ll troubleshoot, deploy, and maintain devices for onsite and remote users, manage accounts, and help safeguard information.

Strong communication and discretion are essential in this mission-critical setting. Responsibilities include deploying workstations, configuring hardware, resolving tickets, and coordinating with UNM IT leadership and vendors.

Qualifications

• Experience providing end-user technical support in regulated environments.
• Experience with Windows, Microsoft 365, user accounts, and remote access tools.
• Experience with hardware peripherals and audiovisual equipment.
• Experience documenting work in a ticketing or service-management system.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely technical support to onsite and remote employees.
• Install, configure, maintain, deploy, and troubleshoot computers, printers, and mobile devices.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
• Set up accounts and access for new employees and reassign access when needed.
• Assist with workstation deployments and technology projects.
• Maintain accurate inventory, asset records, and lifecycle information.
• Document service requests and resolutions in the tracking system.
• Escalate issues as needed and coordinate with IT leadership and vendors.
• Support security and data protection measures and backups.
• Provide clear, patient guidance to users with varying tech levels.
