Job summary

State of Colorado, Sterling Correctional Facility, is seeking an instructor to deliver CIS instruction to inmate students in accordance with the Colorado Community College System and licensing board requirements. The role focuses on building marketable IT skills and guiding students toward certificate completion.

You will teach, assess, and mentor in a cooperative, safety‑conscious environment, contributing to the facility's mission and ensuring credentialed teaching practice.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have an Associate's Degree in Information Technology or related field and 4,000 hours of verifiable IT experience in the last seven years.
• Alternative substitutions include a valid state/national license or certification plus 4,000 hours of IT experience; or a Bachelor's degree with 2,000 hours of IT experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach and mentor inmate students individually or in groups to improve academic performance.
• Assess educational needs and set short and long-term goals for students.
• Develop competency-based teaching aids and instructional materials.
• Deliver lectures on IT theories and terminology.
• Administer performance assessments to measure progress and completion.
• Maintain student records, attendance, and training activity details.
