Job summary

Clayton Valley Charter High School is seeking an IT Support Systems Technician to provide technical support, and assist in the program applications of microcomputers and peripherals; installs software programs, analyzes and corrects problems, and does related work as required.

The position requires a blend of training and experience, strong knowledge of hardware/software, and experience with school information systems, networks, and office applications.

Qualifications

• Two years combined clerical or school support experience preferred.
• Knowledge of microcomputer hardware and software capabilities.
• Experience with databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
• Understanding of school district software and hardware used in schools.
• Skill in installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair of computer equipment.
• Experience installing drivers and maintaining LANs and network applications.
• Strong coordination, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to operate computer terminals and diagnose system failures.

Below are the preferred qualifications for this position: - A combination of training and experience equivalent to two years recent clerical or secretarial experience in a secondary school; two years experience in direct school support using an automated student information system. - Knowledge of: Microcomputer hardware and software capabilities and limitations Currently used database, spreadsheet and word processing applications Modern office methods and procedures Principles, methods, software and hardware employed within a school district - Knowledge, experience, and skill in the operation, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair of computer equipment, technical devices, and related software - Experience installing drivers and software application programs, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining local area networks and network applications - Skills in: Coordinating work activities with departmental/site management Communicating effectively both orally and in writing Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships Operating computer terminals Assessing the causes of system failures and initiating corrective action
