Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an Application Support Analyst to serve as the primary contact for Land IT and related E&P systems in Midland, Texas. You will gather requirements, build small-scale apps or automations, and analyze processes to drive improvement.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, perform root-cause analysis, manage vendor relations, and support changes with back-end configuration updates. Proficiency in SQL and experience with Spotfire or Power BI are preferred.

Qualifications

• BA/BS or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Foundational knowledge of E&P data, systems, and processes across Land, Production Accounting, Facilities, or Production Operations.
• 2+ years of software/application support or business analysis experience; internships count.
• Oil & Gas industry experience preferred.
• Cloud tooling experience (Terraform, Databricks) for internal tools is a plus.
• Beginner SQL proficiency preferred.
• Spotfire and/or Power BI experience preferred.

Job description

• Provide application support across multiple E&P functional areas, serving as the primary point of contact for all Land IT support needs
• Serve as the primary application support contact for designated E&P systems spanning Land, Production Accounting, Facilities, and Production Operations
• Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and build small-scale applications or automations
• Map and analyze business processes to identify improvement and optimization opportunities
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement appropriate issue resolutions
• Coordinate vendor relationships, software defect and enhancement requests, upgrade/hot-fix testing, and deployments
• Monitor support metrics and usage data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
• Support change management policies and procedures, including documenting and implementing system changes
• Maintain back-end system configuration and implement updates supporting business processes

Requirements

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or another related field, or equivalent experience
• Foundational knowledge of, or strong interest in, E&P data, systems, and processes across one or more of: Land, Production Accounting, Facilities, or Production Operations
• 2+ years of related experience in software/application support or business analysis; internship or academic project experience considered
• Prior experience in the Oil and Gas industry preferred
• Exposure to AI-assisted development platforms (e.g., Claude Code) and modern infrastructure/cloud tooling (e.g., Terraform, Databricks Apps) for building or hosting internal tools is a plus
• Experience in application development, business analysis, or requirements gathering preferred
• Beginner proficiency in SQL preferred
• Spotfire and/or Power BI experience preferred
