Job summary

State of Nebraska - Nebraska Judicial Branch is seeking an Information Technology Systems Administrator to manage x86 servers running Windows and Linux, SAN storage, and related IT infrastructure from Lincoln, NE. Salary starts at $76,977.40 with probationary raise and annual COLA adjustments.

Responsibilities include system design, installation, monitoring, security, vulnerability assessments, and policy recommendations to senior management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, AND
• 7 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination will be considered.
• All educational credits must be from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining the Judicial Department’s systems and software.
• Responsible for planning, architecture/design, and implementation of hardware and software installations, configurations, and decommissions.
• Responsible for monitoring and maintenance of relevant systems and associated hardware/software and provides support and troubleshooting for those systems when required.
• Responsible for maintaining and monitoring the secure configuration and operations of all in-place devices to include security tools, workstations, mobile devices, servers and network devices.
• Assists the Information Security Officer in the design and execution of system vulnerability assessments, system penetration tests, and system security audit.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
• Manages enterprise IT systems and cloud infrastructure, which includes maintenance, testing, system backups, restoring the system after a failure, configuring and maintaining on-prem and cloud systems, creating and maintaining system scripts, installing system software, understanding connections to other computer systems, and answering questions and providing assistance as needed.
• Designs, installs, monitors, and maintains system security, which includes implementing security practices, configuring equipment, diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues, and ensuring system security standards are enforced.
• Establishes, implements, and maintains system security strategy and requirements.
• Develops and implements strategies for server management including monitoring performance; preventative maintenance, problem avoidance, and troubleshooting.
