Job summary

University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a Systems Administrator for the UNL Police department to manage servers, desktops, and security systems. The role requires strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and TCP/IP networking, with a history of working in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities include advising on security configurations, administering system processes, and providing first-tier tech support for desktop and security equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with 2 years of sysadmin experience.
  • Knowledge of Windows desktop/server products, Active Directory, and TCP/IP networking.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the UNL Police servers, desktop computing systems, and security systems.
  • Provide expert advice regarding security system configuration and design. Administer processes and procedures for all systems.
  • Responsible for all first-tier technical assistance for all systems, including desktop computing equipment, access control, and CCTV.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field plus two years of system administration, maintenance, and operation experience required; equivalent education/experience considered. Must possess knowledge of current Microsoft Windows desktop and server products, Microsoft Active Directory and management thereof; hardware/software troubleshooting; customer service and TCP/IP networking. Experience must demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in computer science or related field. Experience in configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of physical security systems (i.e. surveillance cameras, access control, alarms, etc.) preferred. Public safety systems application knowledge or alarm central station experience highly desired. Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), A+ and Server+ certifications preferred.

Posted Salary

$55,000/yr. minimum
