Job summary

Alaska Electric Light & Power seeks an IT Systems Administrator to design, secure, and optimize the organization’s technology landscape in Juneau. You will ensure health and performance of servers, networks, cloud services, and enterprise applications, working closely with the CIO on the technology roadmap.

The role involves maintaining documentation, collaborating with vendors, and driving security controls while supporting business continuity and user needs across the organization.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, or related field.
• Certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA Network+, Security+, Azure, or Cisco.
• Experience administering enterprise Windows environments, virtualization platforms, cloud services, and network infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and system issues.
• Administer, install, configure, and maintain network-based applications, operating systems, user accounts, and peripheral devices.
• Analyze information systems and infrastructure needs, recommending improvements, upgrades, and technology solutions to enhance reliability, security, and performance.
• Perform routine server administration, including system monitoring, data backups, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and disaster recovery preparation.
• Maintain accurate inventory records of IT assets, software licenses, and technology resources.
• Monitor and maintain cybersecurity controls to protect systems, networks, and organizational data.
• Collaborate with the Chief Information Officer to design, implement, document, and maintain enterprise technology solutions, including networks, servers, telecommunications systems, and application infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and system diagrams to support operational continuity and knowledge transfer.
